Ross purchased the company with Sinead in mid 2023, and was appointed Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Director following this. Ross has worked closely with Herman White since joining its sister company Herman’s, in 2016, where he is an associate director, and he has helped shape and manage the vision of Herman’s. Before joining Herman’s he worked for Adams Auctioneers in St. Stephens Green, as well as this he built experience dealing with Sotheby’s and Bonhams, helping him grow his knowledge in his specialist fields.
Ross has specialist expertise in the areas of Valuation and Estate Management, he has conducted some of the largest commissioned valuations in the history of the state, and he is particularly experienced in the areas of Estate Probate valuations (Contents).
Ross has a particular interests in the global auction market, and is continually looking to help shape the future of auctions in Ireland. He also has an interest is evolving the property market, and wants to use his knowledge to help shape and manage the vision of Herman White with Sinead into the future, with a particular focus on the company’s offering to its clients and the market as a whole.
He holds an honours degree in business management, a certificate in Fine and Decorative Arts from the Institute of professional Auctioneers and Valuers and he studied Antiques Forgeries, Fraud and Trafficking with the University of Glasgow. Ross is a PRSA licenced auctioneer, and a member of the Institute of Professional Auctioneers and Valuers (IPAV).
Sinead joined the company in December 2009, and was appointed Office Manager in 2014. Before joining the company she worked for Anne Lait Auctioneers & Valuers Ltd in Rathnew, Co Wicklow, where she completed the Higher Certificate in Property Studies through the IAVI and DIT Bolton Street. She then became a sales negotiator with Anne Lait Auctioneers & Valuers Ltd and later joined the team at Herman Whites.
In 2009 she because a member of the Irish Auctioneers & Valuers Institute and continued on her membership when the IAVI changed to the Society of Chartered Surveyors Ireland and the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. In March 2022 she became a member of the Institute of Professional Auctioneers and Valuers. With over 17 years’ experience in the industry, Sinead has particular interests in the letting and management of residential and commercial properties and project management of property refurbishment. In mid 2023, she purchased the company with Ross, and was appointed Chief Operating Officer and Director.
As a COO of Herman White’s, Sinead continues to shape and manage the vision of the firm and as well as the legacy established by David E. St. C. Herman and Charles G. White.
Rory started work in October 1977. Qualified in May 1980. Worked in Commercial Department , Keane Mahony Smith, ‘77 – ‘78, moved to Fine Art Department, resident Auctioneer and Fine Art Consultant ‘79 – ’83.
Moved to Jackson Stops & Mc Cabe, was responsible for residential sales and Fine Art Auctions ( on premises ) . Set up Jackson Stops Rathgar 1988 together with Maurice Mc Donagh, general practice where I started to do bank valuations and other valuations. Set up consultancy with South Dublin County Council in 1993 in an effort to purchase properties for housing list, in 10 years we purchased c.2,000 houses.
Left Jackson Stops in 1998 and spent 19 years with Orchard Properties doing mainly valuations and residential sales, some commercial sales .In addition set up expert witness practise mainly for court work.
In recent years 2017 made move to Herman White Estates where I carry out valuations and do residential and commercial sales and lettings valuations in conjunction with Charles White , both Red Book registered Valuers
